Chandani Chowk is the main market of Delhi. It is located opposite to the Red fort. There are many other tourist destinations are also situated at Chandani chowk such as Digamber Jain Temple, Fatehpur mosque and Sunheri Masjid.
Chandani Chowk is more than 300 years old market and one of the eminent wholesale and retail markets of the country. The market was established during 1650, at the time when Shahjahan shifted his capital from Agra to Delhi. The concept of Chandi Chowk was of Jahanara, daughter of Shahjahan. It has grown as a prosperous and prominent trading center and crowded by the shops established from the red Fort to the Fatehpuri mosque.
There is one more popular market, named as Chawri BAzar is established besides the Red Fort. Chandani Chowk is one of the busiest portions of Delhi. It mainly deals into iron, hardware, paper, utensils of brass, copper and stainless steel. You can visit the ancient and traditional effigies of Chandani chowk through its Havelis, Kuchas and Katras.
There are seven famous Hindu and Jain Temples, two churches, three mosques and two Gurudwaras are located in Chandani chowk area, which is a unique example of “unity in diversity”
