
Church of Redemption |
Cathedral church of the redemption is located on the Church Road, north of the Jaipur column and very near to Connaught place Delhi. Famous architect Henry Medd, who is known for great architect designs, designed the Cathedral church of the redemption which was built during 1927-1935. The architect of the church reflects the Lutyens style. The external appearance of the building looks ordinary with roofing of red sandstone. The interior of the church is stunning and striking. There is numerous small recessed opening which filter the sunlight and allows it to enter into the church.
Lord Irwin has donated the silver cross and a picture which is placed in the eastern end of the church. It is believed that once Lord Irwin has narrowly escaped from the blow up of his train in 1929 and then, he gifted the picture to express his gratitude to God for his grace. The church organizes religious concerts on the prominent festival such as Christmas and Easter every year with great excitement and enthusiasm
The capital city minstrels called as Choir also participate into the concert of Choral music and carol singing on Christmas and Easter in the Cathedral church of the Redemption. The entry of the church is absolutely free and devotee from any religion can come for blessings.
Key attractions : Special Event- Prayers are organized in morning and evening every day. The church is beautifully decorated on the Christian festivals. Apart from the main festivals, other cultural and social programs are also organized in the Church throughout the year. Nearest tourist attractions- President house, India Gate, Jantar Mantar, Gurudwara Bangla Sahib and Hanuman Mandir.
