Hanuman Mandir |
Hanuman Mandir is one of the oldest Hindu temples of the country, and it is believed that it is one of the five temples of Mahabharata time. The temple houses self manifest idol of Hanuman. The idol consists of a crescent moon sigh which is an Islamic symbol instead of the sing of the Sun which is a Hindu symbol.
You can enter into the temple through the Baba Karak Singh Road. The steps are made up of white marble which leads toward the massive silver plated doors which are decorated with the scenes of Ramayana. The entrance hall is ventilated with clerestory windows which are decorated with the painting of Hanuman. The Idol of Hanuman is facing the southern direction.
On every Tuesday and Saturday , special worship is organized and devotees assemble at the temple in large numbers for blessing. Hanuman Jayanti (Brithday of Lord Hanuman) is celebrated with immense fanfare every year in the month of Chaitra as per Hindu calendar. A small bazaar is also arranged within the complex, from where you can buy religious offering and bangles made of lakh and plastic.
