Kalkaji is an eminent Hindu temple which is dedicated to Goddess Kali, located in Delhi. This temple is the most visited temple of Delhi. Kalkaji temple is located near by Okhla industrial estate and just opposite to the famous Lotus temple. Although the devotees visits the temple throughout the year, but you can face the great crowd during Navratri.
During Navratri , the temple is decorated beautifully and the festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm for all nine days. A big fair is also organized inside the temple premises. The sacred mystique of the temple offers absolute peace to body, soul and mind. Groups of the devotee sing hymns and songs to worship the goddess Durga. The temple was built during 18th century but very fewer amounts of the original temple have left. During 19th century, certain changes has made by Raja Kedarnath.
The modern Kalkaji temple has 12-sided structure and made up of white marble with a combination of black pumice stones. The architecture of the temple is very simple but impressive. There is a place to stay in the backyards which is known as Kali Dhramshala. Under the rituals, devotees offer milk to the idol which is followed by an Aarti and then hymn. There are many shops located within the temple complex, you can buy ritual offering from there.
