
| Nizamuddin Dargah |
Nizamuddin Dargah is one of the most famous mausoleums of Sufi saint, Nizamuddin Auliya. The dargah is situated in the Nizamuddin West area of the city. Irrespective of the religion, people from different countries of the world visit Dargah for blessings. You will also visit the tomb of Amir Khusro and Jehan Ara Begum within the Nizamuddin dargah complex.
The Dargah was built by Muhammad Tughluq and considered as a pilgrimage in India. On every Thursday, qawwalis are organized to worship and remember the Sufi Saint. It is surrounded by many tombs, and it is constructed on the top of a tank. After some initial construction, there were many renovations and re construction work done on the mausoleum. The present building of the Dargah was constructed by Faridu’n Khan during 1562-63.
The Dargah has a square chamber which is decorated with halls and arched gateways. The dome like a roof of the building is adorned by vertical strips of black marbles and crowned by a lotus shaped cresting. During the festival such as Eid and Urs, a devotee comes in a large number to worship the saint. The Urs fair will organize two times in a year. Apart from this, fairs are also organized on the death anniversaries of Hazrat Nizam-ud-din Auliya and Amir Khusro. The other attractions of the Dargah are Jama’at-Khana Masjid, Chini Ka Burj, tombs of Muhammad Shah, Mirza Jahangir and Kali-or-Kalan Masjid,etc.
