Raj Ghat is a black marble platform which is built as a memorial of Mahatma Gandhi. A perpetual flame burns at one end of the platform while rest part is left open to the sky.
Rajghat is located near the bank of Yamuna River on ring road, popularly known as Mahatma Gandhi Road. In recent time, it has become part of custom for the foreign public figures to pay their respect to Mahatma Gandhi by laying flowers on the platform when they visit India. Visitors are supposed to remove their footwear before going to the Rajghat due to respect. On every Friday, a memorial ceremony is organized and special prayer sessions are held on Mahatma Gandhi's Birth and death anniversaries.
Father of Nation, mahatma Gadhi had taken his last breath at Rajghat. The memorial stone is placed there with the word written -"Hey Ram". These are the last words came out from Gandhi's mouth.
